Our Story

The genesis of the Davis Braxton reunion was a result of Dorthy Clark, daughter of Amelia Davis Beal, feeling that the families did not come together outside of funeral gatherings.  After conversing with other family members, she decided to plan a family reunion.  The reunion would consist of families of John and Luvenia Braxton, John Davis and Anna Lewis Davis Bembry.

The First family reunion was held in Unadilla/Hawkinsville Georgia on July 22, 1978. Unadilla and Cincinnati were the best sites to host the reunion due to the orgin of the family in Georgia and the large portions of family members in Cincinnati. Later it was decided that more families would be involved if other states could serve as host.  This was a positive move that caused more unity and strenght.  It was decovered that many family members did not relize the scope of their family and now sought to bring the gathering to their cities. Sites other than Georgia since 1981 have been Brooklyn, Miami, Chicago, Cincinnati, Memphis, Detroit, and Atlanta.
